Way back in July 2010, actress Elizabeth Banks became attached to star in and produce Tink, a live-action tale with the actress portraying Tinkerbell. The actress recently gave an update on the project, comparing it to the 2003 holiday comedy Elf.

“It’s a live action Tinkerbell movie sort of in the vein of Elf in which I would play Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell gets thrown out of Never Never Land, and it’s about where she goes and who she meets and the adventures she has….Tinkerbell is one of the greatest characters because she’s mischievous and snarky and fun and sexy and jealous and vengeful. We’re in script stage and everybody is really excited and blah, blah, doesn’t mean anything. You might as well not even write it down because who knows, it might not even happen.”

Tink still appears to be in very early stages of development, so it isn’t known when (or if) production may start.

Actor Idris Elba has revealed he will return as Heimdall in Thor 2.

“Thor 2 for sure. The Avengers I’m not sure about, but Thor 2, we’re going at it again.”

Other returning actors for Thor 2 include; Jaimie Alexander, Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston.

Thor 2 comes to theaters November 15th, 2013.

The New Mexico Film Office has announced that Walt Disney Pictures’ ‘The Lone Ranger’ will start principal photography in New Mexico in February, with filming running until the middle of August. The cast assembled for the film, include Armie Hammer taking on the role of the titular character and Johnny Depp portraying Tonto. Ruth Wilson, Dwight Yoakam, Helena Bonham Carter, James Badge Dale, Barry Pepper, Tom Wilkinson and James Frain are also set to co-star. The film, which takes place in 1869, is directed by Gore Verbinski for Walt Disney Pictures/Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

The plot for the film is as follows;

A Texas Ranger, left for dead, is saved by the Commanche Tonto, who gives his new partner the masked identity of Lone Ranger.

‘The Lone Ranger’ is scheduled to be released May 31st, 2013.

The reports around the internet that Pixar’s Untitled Dinosaur film has been titled Frozen are wrong. The confusion comes from the fact that Frozen has been given the date previously earmarked for the Dinosaur film – November 27th, 2013. Frozen is, in fact, the adaptation of The Snow Queen.

Nemo, an adventurous young clownfish, is unexpectedly taken to a dentist’s office aquarium. It’s up to Marlin (Albert Brooks), his worrisome father, and Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a friendly but forgetful Regal Blue Tang, to make the epic journey to bring Nemo home. Their adventure brings them face-to-face with vegetarian sharks, surfer dude turtles, hypnotic jellyfish, hungry seagulls, and more. Marlin discovers a bravery he never knew, but will he be able to find his son?

Walt Disney Pictures has found its director for the new Maleficent film, and it’s Robert Stromberg.

Stromberg was the production designer on Avatar, Alice in Wonderland and Disney’s upcoming Oz The Great and Powerful. He’s also worked as visual effects supervisor for “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Pacific.” He won Oscars for Art Direction for Avatar and Alice in Wonderland and was nominated for visual effects for Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

Maleficent, which is being developed as a starring vehicle for Angelina Jolie, will be his directorial debut. Joe Roth is producing.
